HEY! It’s a great time for a sale on my cool Christian shirts!
Actually, ANYTIME is a great time to save a little change on Christian women's apparel, right? It's really such a wild time in our world so I wanted to bless you with my favorite Psalms for anxiety and a little change left in your pocket after your next GodsyGirl purchase.
First, let me say...Girl, it's been a roller coaster the last couple months, hasn't it? *whew* OMG!
Let me prescribe Psalms for anxiety!
I'll tell you, there is nothing like God's Word to comfort our nervous, anxious hearts and, Boy, I've needed it. Haven't you?
My creativity has been incredibly hampered, I've been eating everything in sight and most days I don't even know what day it is! Without a doubt, I've been affected and in a BIG way! So much so I've re-discovered Vienna Fingers cookies. :)
I have to place an Instacart order today, pray I have the strength not to order them yet again!
Seriously though, how could anyone not be affected by all this?
The constant news stories, the illnesses, horrifying stats coupled with politicians interrupting the best tv shows just when you're getting into them - Geez! It’s honestly enough to make a person holla - not "holler." I mean "HOLLA!"
But, God has been a very
present help in a time of trouble.
I must say, there is something beautiful and comforting about the Psalms during times like this. They are like a slow IV drip of God's word into your troubled spirit.
Another thing about them, they are not so intellectually complex one must labor to understand them, you can just "inhale" them - breathe the words in ...and breathe them out. *Aaaaah*
And, oh how they speak to one's emotions too! Yeah, Psalms are perfect!
Since this is such an emotional time, the Holy Spirit uses the Psalms to soothe my stress and help me relax ...reminding me God is still in control and loves me. He loves you too. So very much.
Every single day He gives me fresh encouragement from various places in His Word, especially from those Psalms.
These days God's Word has been such a comfort to me!
Let me ask you, have you noticed God's Word is coming alive for you as well?
I'm not sure if it is from the desperation of the times or because I am simply devoting more time to Bible study - whatever is going on, it has been absolutely thrilling reading my Word again! I'm loving every single moment of it!
In my distress, Psalms really helped.
Full disclosure: it hasn't always been this spiritual "cakewalk" I'm feeling now.
When this thing first came out, I was panicked and scared like everyone else.
Confusion was wrapped up in worry - that's how those early days would go.
Of course, I was, who wasn't disquieted when the world firsts shut down?
Thankfully, I had enough sense to turn to the only One who could help.
I turned to the Lord often throughout the days. The result was always the same...peace.
For certain, life will return to normal eventually, but we will still need the Word, won't we?
I don't know about you, but I pray this new normal for me lasts forever. No, not the sickness and the results of that. I mean the way the world has turned to kindness, prayer, and for some people even salvation!
When this is all done, I know I will not be able to pray for hours as I do now nor be able to stop the world just to dive into my Bible. I know that.
Nevertheless, I want this fresh fervor for prayer to remain. It genuinely has been like a personal revival and I don't want the pilot light to ever go out.
Has it been that way for you too? I hope so. If not, seize the moment, Christian Woman!
Take full advantage of this season to re-connect with your heavenly Father. It's like being in a spiritual retreat to heal, to recover, and to be renewed.
I think the Lord loves our current desperation for Him. The prayers we now pray, how we run to Him for solace, and even seeing His name pop up repeatedly on social media like never before! Many of us are seeing just how much we need Him.
If you're a parent of older kids, you know there is something sweet and precious when your mature children need you again. Yeah. I have a 13-year-old and I love those moments. Precious.
All that said, I feel like it's a new season for Christians and unbelievers alike. This has been a reset and it has happened for a purpose.
Don't waste it being depressed or grieving the things you used to be able to do. Instead, open up your spiritual eyes and see it for what it is - a chance.
I almost missed the treasure of this moment early on. Please don't want you to make the same mistake.
Also, I must say, this illness has taken people I love and has affected people I hold dear. God remains a Comforter, Deliverer, and Peace-giver.
In addition to some Psalms for anxiety, I also want to bless you!
